Mycaraïbes, a blogzine dedicated to travelling in the Caribbean

The whole ambition of this young blogger, mad about travelling and with a particular interest in the Caribbean lifestyle, was the creation of this reference blog which serves as an exploration of the Caribbean islands. A passion that finally bore its fruits in the shape of: Mycaraibes.com.

The idea behind the creation of this information portal was first born following the realization that those travelling to the West Indies do not know where to go, where to get brief but fun information and what to do before going on a trip. Thus, mycaraibes.com is a practical online guide about the West Indies with islands’ fact sheets, holiday ideas, special tourist activities and big local events. In short, it is a goldmine when it comes to holiday ideas which have been tried out or need to be experienced and a perfect exchange platform dedicated to one particular area of the globe.

And islanders will not be left behind, on the contrary…

Mycaraibes offers a ‘News’ page, which deals with various subjects that have to do with the culture and lifestyle in the Caribbean: tips for a good time in the West Indies and the Caribbean? What are the biggest musical events? The most beautiful nautical festivals? Where can I find specific professionals that I need? What are the best restaurants in Guadeloupe? Etc.

The community and collaborative side

To get the website running, one of the objectives fixed was the creation of a community which would be composed of Caribbean lovers seduced by the charms of the idyllic sceneries, the history, the folklore and the plethora of activities.

It is also a means to get the website to be proactive, thanks to Web 2.0, through the use of forums, article comments etc. To this effect, readers can thus post their travel journals, give advices and tips, share their good ideas and why not, post their photos and videos.

The official online website launch took place on the 31st of July 2010. We offer a rich and quality content, accompanied by a number of professional photos and videos, and aim to turn mycaraibes.com into the chosen place to go to before and after travelling but also to get a peek at the daily life in the islands – all in all, an essential toolbox to travel and live in the Caribbean.
